Where Does My Help Come From?

In the midst of difficulties and challenges of all kinds, with eyes fixed on the heavens we may ask: “where are You God? Why do You not display Your power and presence as You once did? Why do You not intervene to save Your children from the trouble and hardships that best them?”

In asking these questions we are not alone – even king David asked God similar questions when He spoke with the Lord.

Here is one answer that the Bible gives to this question:

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3  (the whole of this chapter is so relevant to us as Christians today.)

Elsewhere the Lord Yahweh Speaks: “Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?” Ezekiel 18:23

While we were still His enemies, the Lord was patient with each one of us as believers, allowing us time to change our minds (repent) and turn to Him – so we are thankful that our names are written in His book of life. Among the enemies of Christ there are many who will come to be His and the Lord has commissioned us to share the good news of His salvation with those who are lost, and to boldly walk with Him trusting our safe-keeping to Him.

Though the path may be uneven and hard we know that victory in Christ in ours.

Prayer:

Oh Lord, we praise You that in all situations You we are safe in Your hands and that You have set aside a bright future for us in Christ Jesus. Help us to live according to Your perfect will; that the light of Your presence will shine in us and the name of Jesus will be gloriefied. In the nsame of Your one and only Son, Jesus Christ, amen.
