In the Midst of the Storms
But now, thus says Yahweh, who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through floods, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall a flame burn against you.”
Isaiah 43: 1-2
In this portion of scripture Yahweh reassures His people that they need never fear, for He who has created and formed them promises to be with them through the storms and the flames.
His promise is not that they will be exempt from the difficulties of life – storms, floods and fires. Rather, that He will be with us during these testing times.
The Lord has demonstrated His love and mercy to believers numerous times and continues to do so, for He chose us to be His children even before the creation of the world.
So He will be with us in the midst of the waters and the flames as He has promised, because He is our God and Redeemer. He has saved us from spiritual and physical bondage.
Those who are in the Spirit have been called by the name of the Lord; their names are written in the Lord’s book of life. These are faithful believers who are beloved and precious in the eyes of God.
